OPIC, Calvert Foundation to Finance Varthana, Supporting Private Schools in India
In a ceremony held on February 17th in Bangalore, India, the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), the U.S. government’s development finance institution, and Calvert Foundation signed an agreement to finance Varthana, a lending institution that provides loans to affordable private schools in India, particularly those that serve low-income populations.

Telenor’s newest plans: Dial I for insurance in India

At the vanguard of a price war, Uninor offered rates as low as 29 paise per minute and came up with schemes like unlimited talktime for students at a flat rate of Rs 37 for calls within the network.

Village Capital and PayPal Strengthen Relationship to Improve Access to Financial Services Across the Globe

(Nasdaq:PYPL), the global technology platform and payments leader, announced an expanded global relationship to support entrepreneurs focused on democratizing access to financial services for low-wealth individuals, families and small businesses. Together, with the support of local ecosystem partners, they will operate three venture development programs in 2016, supporting emerging FinTech innovators in Latin America, the United States and India. The joint initiative represents the first time a lead program partner has entered into a global collaboration with Village Capital to accelerate innovation in one of its areas of impact.
