Press release: Visa Launches Foundation With Inaugural Grant to Women’s World Banking
At the heart of the Visa Foundation is the belief that micro and small enterprises are the backbone of the global economy. In fact, small and medium enterprises account for more than 90 percent of enterprises worldwide, and contribute 50-60 percent of global employment. However, these segments struggle to access the financial tools, capital and training programs required to enable them to fully thrive. The Visa Foundation’s core mission is to support efforts to rectify this imbalance.

The female micro-entrepreneurs disrupting India’s garment trade
Industree Foundation has reached 30,000 women artisans across India and Africa, through collaborative efforts with organizations such as India based retail group Future Group, and IKEA, which teams up with social enterprises in India for its Next Gen initiative, which aims to enable social entrepreneurs to gain access to global markets.

Lusia Kiroyan: Empowering female inmates through batik-wearing dolls
Since setting up the Cinderella from Indonesia Center (CFIC) foundation in 2012, she has empowered over 740 female inmates at two penitentiaries in Riau Islands and one in Jakarta to make dolls with dresses made of used batik attire or fabrics.
